
The Peninsula of Osa stretches for more than 50 kilometers in to the Pacific Ocean, and it constitutes most of the southern region of Costa Rica. We would like to offer you an opportunity to create your own tour experience the following are one day tours at Corcovado National Park. Because of the remote location of the park we recomend a minimun staying of two nights.
Corcovado National Park:
Enjoy an all-day guided adventure in the largest remaining uncut tropical rainforest in Central America! You will enter the park at the San Pedrillo Station, then you will hike until lunchtime. You will explore secondary & primary forest, with a chance to see four kinds of monkeys, 400 kinds of birds & many threatened or endangered species of animals. The adventure continues after lunch, with a hike along the San Pedrillo River. You will have an afternoon boat-ride back to the camp, with a possibility of seeing dolphins or whales. Cost: $ 95 /p
Caño Island Biological Reserve: This all-day tour is your adventure at sea! You will have a chance to snorkel or scuba-dive at this world-renowned dive-spot. There are many colorful fish to see and it is a rare day when the dolphins are not seen on this tour. The island has trails to hike and is the former burial ground of pre-Columbian Indigenous Tribes.
Our 4 in 1 Special:
This adventure series starts with a hike along the coast, then into the forest, to a beautiful waterfalls at Rio Claro. You then ride down the river on inner tubes to the beach. You will have a chance to go swimming & snorkeling at San Josecito, and will enjoy lunch at this peaceful spot. An afternoon boat ride back to the Camp completes your adventure!
Horseback Riding: Explore the beach & jungle on sturdy Costa Rican horses! You can enjoy the adventure by the hour or by the day! The horses can take you to places hard to walk to, and there are places to rest and swim along your trail.
Bird Watching:
Enjoy a short hike near the Camp, to see many of the 400 species of birds that are resident there. The early morning hours are the best for this. Another option for birds lovers is a tour to Violin Island to see the many marine birds at the roosting spot.
Bat Netting:
Costa Rica has more than 200 species of mammals and half of those are Bats! Bats are the only true flying-mammals. You can participate in bat-netting sessions where you will be face to face with bats and learn about them.
Snorkeling at San Josecito & Rio Claro: This spot is great for seeing the marine life that abounds here. Some coral reefs protect the spot, creating a nice lagoon of clear water to snorkel in. Also a half hour walk takes you to Rio Claro where you can swim or canoe up the river.
Night Walk:
We will take you on a night walk for a couple of hours in the forest surrounding the Tent Camp. During this hike you will be exploring the forest with a monocular night vision device & flashlights. In addition to experiencing the forest at night; you might be able to observe some night creatures such as Scorpions, Katydids & Spiders. You may also be able to see vertebrates such snakes, sleeping birds and mammals such as Opossums & Kinkajous.
DOLPHINS TOUR:
Explore the Pacific waters of Drake Bay and Caño Island for close encounters with dolphins from the comfort of our boat, and - in season and with a little luck, thrilling sightings of humpback whale mothers and their calves. Whale seasons are December - April and July- October. Although whales are seasonal visitors to this water, dolphins are common residents in this area.
KAYAK TOUR: One of best ways to experience the biodiversity of the forest and sea is sitting comfortable, clean and cool in a stable, easy to use kayak. We have short and easy trips like drifting along a calm and idyllic tropical river into the sea , medium level beach hopping , slow rivers and small wave surfing and challenging white water descents and big wave surfing. With enough kayaks for 25 people, we can make everyone in your group a captain.
